Process Drama

Drama is great in the movies - unexpected twists, miscommunications, all or nothing outcomes. But, drama is terrible for our business processes.
When your exercising your process, do you have issues like: missing artifacts, training needs, unclear responsibilities, unaligned expectations, misses steps, confusing metrics, tool issues? If so, these are correctable self-inflicted process issues.

Now, no matter how strong your process is, yes, there will still be surprises. Customers will have unexpected needs, suppliers will have unplanned events, processes will occasionally break … “stuff happens”. But, with a robust process, it can handle surprises due fewer internal mistakes. Ah! Less drama!
Your assignment this week - identify a process in your organization with internally caused drama. Then launch a process improvement project to address just one issue.
That's my 8020 Framework.
