Reasons of Inaction

You hired a great staff. So when you see inaction, what’s the cause? Â
Â
Inactivity happens when there is something missing around the 5 factors of ownership, workload, priority, objective, or process.Â
Â

For example, if my boss said we were going on a business trip to Paris:
Ownership:Â Is it clear who is taking the lead on planning that trip?
Workload:Â Do I have the bandwidth to complete the task?
Priority:Â Do I understand the priority of booking the trip versus other tasks?
Objective:Â Are we flying to Paris, France or driving to Paris, Texas?
Process:Â Is the process defined and are people trained on how to book that trip?
Â
When good employees are unsure how to properly take the next steps, it gets stalled while they execute other clearly defined tasks they know how to complete.Â
Â
So, next time you see good people not taking action, be the leader that solves the reasons of inaction by taking the responsibility to clarify these 5 factors. Help your employees to perform their best.
Â
That's my 8020 Framework. What's yours?
